The mod user has to obtain the APK somehow, which complicates the process of modding greatly. The second approach has a small problem though.

#ANGRY BIRDS TEMPLE RUN 3 HOW TO#
I think there are two possible distribution methods, you either redistribute modded APK (providing that it is legal of course) or you only provide spritesheets in PNG/PVR with detailed instructions on how and where to place them inside the APK as well as how to sign the APK so it can be installed. > Basically it's not nearly as practical if the entire game needs to be downloaded/replaced. > Does the entire APK need to be shared, or can individual files within the app be replaced? > I'd share the APK, but I am not sure if that's legal so you'll have to trust me that this is not photoshopped, you can do it yourself with process described above.ĭoes the entire APK need to be shared, or can individual files within the app be replaced?īasically it's not nearly as practical if the entire game needs to be downloaded/replaced. Anyhow, just as a proof of concept, I edited splash screen of Angry Birds (it's a PNG so it's easy): PowerVR SDK has utils to convert to and from PVR if you want to try it yourself.

PVR is PowerVR texture format, it's an optimized texture format for mobile devices ( Check here for more info and to download SDK). > Speaking of Angry Birds, its developer uses PNG and PVR files for storing ingame textures.
#ANGRY BIRDS TEMPLE RUN 3 INSTALL#
Signed APK should install normally on your phone and you should be able to use it without any problems. The only thing you have to do after editing an APK is to sign it, and that can be done with various tools you can find on xda, including tools you can install on your phone (like Zip Signer 2 or something like that). These APK files can be opened with an archive explorer program (PeaZip, Ark, FileRoller, WinZip, etc) like any other zip/jar file. > Basically, Android uses APK files to install applications from. > Contrary to what Kosai said, it's actually possible to mod Angry Birds (on Android at least), it just requires a little know-how. I'd share the APK, but I am not sure if that's legal so you'll have to trust me that this is not photoshopped, you can do it yourself with process described above.
